Overview

Tahoe SAFE Alliance is a community-based organization providing direct services to victims of intimate partner violence, sexual assault, child abuse and other individuals in crisis. Incorporated as an independent non-profit, 501(c)3 public benefit corporation in 1985, the agency maintains four office sites, one shelter and has 22 staff members and 2 AmeriCorps Volunteers.

Tahoe SAFE Alliance believes that every person has the right to live a life free of violence. The agency works to empower victims in reclaiming those rights by providing safety, advocacy, support, and education.

Tahoe SAFE Alliance is currently the only agency providing assistance to victims of intimate partner violence and sexual assault in the North Lake Tahoe/Truckee region of California and Nevada and owns/operates the only safe house in the community. All services are free of charge and provided in both English and Spanish.

In 2012, Tahoe SAFE Alliance accomplished many great things including:

  • Provided direct services to 729 women, men, teens, and children

  • 18 women and 20 children received emergency shelter in our Mountain Rose Safe House

  • Received  765 calls on our 24-hour Community Helpline

  • Provided 72 adults and children with individual counseling

  • Provided 38 children with group therapy

  • Gave 486 violence prevention presentations to 5,0736 kids, teens, and adults

  • 154 volunteers provided 5,512 volunteer hours
