Tahoe Women’s Services is Now Tahoe SAFE Alliance.
Same Mission. Different Name.
We changed our name to more adequately reflect who we are and who we serve. While we remain dedicated to serving women, the truth is we do not work solely with women. We have male clients; every day we counsel, educate and mentor boys and girls of all ages. We have men who are dedicated volunteers. We also have male staff and board members. Moreover, we truly believe that in order for us to achieve a world without violence, men must be active in the solution.
By changing our name we are moving towards a paradigm where EVERYONE (women, men boys, girls, teens) feel safe and welcome to come to us for help. The new name includes EVERYONE in the community that helps us achieve our mission and is inclusive of all the services we provide. Through education, advocacy and intervention, we are promoting SAFE families, communities and relationships for EVERYONE in the North Lake Tahoe-Truckee regions.
By including Alliance in our name we are acknowledging all of the community partners that are necessary in “Stopping Abuse for EVERYONE.” Together we can create a safe community for EVERYONE.
Violence is preventable. We envision a community where no child is abused, no person battered, no teen bullied, and no friend assaulted. Violence prevention is paramount to creating SAFE families, communities and relationships. Our new name Tahoe SAFE Alliance reflects our commitment to achieving this goal for EVERYONE. Our new tagline, Stopping Abuse for EVERYONE, demonstrates how we actively and in collaboration with the community, put our mission to work every single day. Thus, while our name has changed, our mission has not. Tahoe SAFE Alliance, Stopping Abuse for EVERYONE.
