Tahoe SAFE Alliance operates the only crisis help line in North Lake Tahoe and Truckee communities. We provide 24-hour/7-days-a-week intimate partner violence, sexual assault and child abuse intervention, support, information and referral services. In 2011, Tahoe SAFE Alliance’s Helpline received 580 calls.
If you or someone you care about is in a crisis situation please call our Helpline now. Our compassionate support staff and volunteers are trained in crisis intervention and can provide discreet, non-judgmental and confidential information and referral services. All of our services are free and provided in English and Spanish.
We help with:
- Crisis intervention
- Information and referral
- Emergency shelter
- Emergency Protection/Restraining Orders and family law services
- Food vouchers
- Serves as an intake for the Mt. Rose Safe House and Counseling Services
- Accompaniment to area hospitals for sexual assault and intimate partner violence survivors
- Court and mediation accompaniment
- Emergency transportation
Answer the phone to provide important information to clients when they need it most. You will provide peer counseling and explore resources to an individual in crisis. Plan to work two 12 -hour shifts per month. You can work from the comfort of your own home! Also, you can staff the Helpline in Kings Beach office 3:15-5:15 PM on the first or second Thursday of the month during staff meetings.
This volunteer opportunity requires CIT training.
