Tahoe SAFE Alliance is a community-based organization providing direct services to victims of intimate partner/domestic violence, sexual violence, and child abuse. Incorporated as an independent non-profit, 501(c)3 public benefit corporation in 1985, the agency maintains three office sites, one shelter, and employs 25 staff members.

Tahoe SAFE Alliance believes that every person has the right to live a life free of violence. The agency works to empower victims in reclaiming those rights by providing safety, advocacy, support, and education.

Tahoe SAFE Alliance is currently the only agency providing assistance to victims of intimate partner/domestic violence, and sexual violence in the North Lake Tahoe/Truckee region of California and Nevada and owns/operates the only safe house in the community. All services are free of charge and provided in both English and Spanish.

In 2017, Tahoe SAFE Alliance accomplished many great things including:


  • Provided services to 837 community members

  • Provided residential services including emergency shelter to 44 community members

  • Provided 1,232 legal advocacy services to 91 community members

  • Received 324 crisis calls on our 24-hour Community Helpline

  • Provided 4,421 advocacy and counseling services to 491 community members

  • Provided services to 110 children

  • Gave 257 violence prevention presentations to local youth

  • 122 volunteers donated 4,216 volunteer hours
